🎵 Meet Yoni — Owner & Teacher at Note by Note
Hi! My name is Yoni, and I’m the founder and teacher here at Note by Note. I’ve been a musician for as long as I can remember — music has been part of my life since day one. I started formal piano lessons at age five, picked up drums at ten, and have been adding instruments to my toolkit ever since.
My passion for rhythm and performance led me to pursue a degree in music. I graduated with honors from the University of Iowa with a degree in Percussion Performance, and I now make my living as a full-time professional musician based in Madison, WI.
In addition to teaching, I’m the lead singer of the Chicago-based wedding band Standing Room Only, and I release original music through my solo project on Spotify. I currently offer lessons in guitar, piano, drums, and music theory — all with a focus on creativity, expression, growth, and performance.
There’s truly nothing like teaching music. It’s the most fulfilling part of my work, and I’m honored to help young musicians grow into more confident, curious, and joyful people — one note at a time.
🎓 Teaching Philosophy
At Note by Note, performance is at the heart of everything we do. Music isn’t just about practicing scales or learning songs — it’s about sharing something meaningful with others. I structure lessons to build toward performance, whether that’s playing for family at home or taking part in a recital. Performing helps students build confidence, set goals, and bring their hard work to life. Along the way, we focus on creativity, expression, and musical understanding, making sure every student feels proud of what they’re playing and why they’re playing it.
Yoni started working with our daughter from scratch, she didn’t know anything about reading or playing music. Yoni’s calm, positive approach helped our daughter learn quickly and really enjoy music. We highly recommend Yoni as a music teacher; he really gets kids and supports their learning fully.
